Almost all women's magazines carry ads that promise to eliminate cellulite via cellulite creams. These products claim that since they contain ingredients such as retinol. Caffeine, DMAE, cellulite will disappear in as easy as 1-2-3.
Believe it or not, cellulite is a problem that even thin women have. According to a study made by the Neutrogena company, about seventy percent of women carry cellulite in their bodies. The reason why a lot of women have it more than men is because women's skin are a lot thinner than male skin.
Meanwhile, according to Allure magazine editor Linda Wells, there are products out there which do help in making cellulites seem to disappear but what they can't do is banish the cellulite completely.
Why caffeine is in most of the ant-cellulite cream ingredients is because it works similar to a diuretic that it helps ease the flow of blood towards the skin. Caffeine basically helps in removing skin moisture thereby firming it temporarily.
Another product that also seem to work wonders in the fight against cellulite is Retinol which supposedly penetrates the skin, increases the production of collagen and exfoliates it thereby concealing any fat dimples.
However, it is important to know the appropriate amount of cellulite cream one should use as too much of it can cause skin dryness and even cause skin peeling and reddening.
The DMAE ingredient or dimethylaminoethanol is a form of anti oxidant that is specially derived from - believe it or not - fish. When mixed with certain amino acids, the resulting product helps in stimulating the body's muscles making it firmer and contract more.
But the fact of the matter is that cellulite is a normal occurrence and that it is the body's way of storing superficial fat. The fibrous strands that do store these cellulite fat is called septae.
Believe it or not, cellulite is not toxins nor is it caused by poor body circulation or even clogged lymphatics. Besides doing exercise and engaging in a fat-free, junk-food free diet, trying out cellulite creams is a harmless way to help in the anti-cellulite fight. But, it is best to first try out the inexpensive kind of cellulite cream and give the product about two months or eight weeks to do its work.
Fortunately, an ingredient in cellulite creams called methylxanthine helps in the reduction of fluid retention - a fact that helps make the appearance of cellulite less obvious.
